Job summary

Hot Topic & BoxLunch seeks a Senior Inventory Accountant to ensure accurate inventory valuation, COGS, and stock ledger integrity across stores and online platforms. You will partner with merchandising, logistics, IT, and finance to deliver data-driven insights that keep the business profitable.

The role is onsite at City of Industry, CA three days a week, with responsibilities including month-end closes, reconciliations, variance analyses, and process improvements to streamline inventory

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 5+ years of inventory or cost accounting experience (retail or wholesale industry experience preferred).
• Solid understanding of GAAP and internal controls for related areas.
• Proficiency with ERP/accounting systems (Oracle Fusion preferred).
• Working knowledge of stock ledger and reconciling to GL (Oracle Retail Management experience a plus).
• Advanced Excel skills and comfort with large data sets; AI experience a plus.

Responsibilities

• Prepare month-end journal entries such as freight, inventory-related accruals, reclasses and amortizations in compliance with GAAP.
• Prepare month-end account reconciliations.
• Provide inventory and COGS variance analyses, analyzing forecast and prior year trends.
• Research and resolve stock ledger and inventory discrepancies with IT, warehouse, and system owners.
• Perform quarterly audits of e-comm orders in local stores.
• Assist in reconciliation and reporting of semi-annual physical inventory for stores, DCs, and Internet.
