Retail Industry - Mainframe Developer (Cobol CICS) - US REMOTE

We are currently seeking a Mainframe Developer (Cobol CICS) to join our team. This position will work remotely from your home office located within the US.

This is a developer position that will need to collaborate with the IT team and the business on a day-to-day basis to develop and implement the requirements.

Job Responsibilities Include :

  • Develop and define application scope and objectives and prepare technical and/or functional specifications from with programs will be written
  • Ability to review project proposals, evaluate alternatives, provide estimates, and make recommendations
  • Coordinate on-call support and ensure effective monitoring of system
  • Promote improvements in lean software engineering practices such as test-driven development, continuous integration, and continuous delivery
  • Ensure unit test is completed and meets the test plan requirements, system testing is completed and system is implemented according to plan
  • Perform a variety of database optimizations such as general reporting and analysis of the efficiency of the database configuration and periodic review of database performance
  • Assist the assigned project manager in the migration of newly acquired customers such that all technical hurdles are addressed in a timely manner and do not impede the expected progress of the transition nor the targeted migration date
  • Evaluate change requests and determine impact to assigned clients
  • Adhere to security and control, and change control processes
  • Design, develop and maintain Mainframe COBOL , CICS & JCL to meet support and/or project requirements
  • Interface with business and IT teams to understand business requirements and translate business requirements into formal technical requirements and application code
  • Work with IT support teams (Architecture, Data /DBA, server teams) to ensure support and project requirements are developed and successfully implemented
  • Develop and execute unit test and integration plans/scripts to validate that application changes meet technical specifications
  • Responsible for full System Development Life Cycle
  • Work with business team to complete acceptance testing and participate in integration testing
  • Participate in production support/pager duty rotation including weekend and off-hour support coverage
  • Provide Solution Delivery Methodology artifacts associated with application components
  • Participate in technical reviews at appropriate stages of development
  • Work with offshore team to ensure the requirements are clarified and guide them to develop the code and test it successfully

Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience across the legacy development process with the knowledge of Cobol, JCL, DB2
  • Minimum of 5 years of knowledge and experience in DB2 development on Mainframe
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in developing Progeni code development and deployment on Mainframe
  • Degree: Bachelor’s in computer science or related field

Preferred Skills:

  • Good communication skills including written and verbal
  • Knowledge and exposure to UNFI / Supervalu development process will be helpful
  • Should be ready to work with offshore development team along with customer dev teams
  • Project lead experience

Where required by law, NTT DATA provides a reasonable range of compensation for specific roles. The starting pay range for this remote role is $81,900 - 170,800. This range reflects the minimum and maximum target compensation for the position across all US locations. Actual compensation will depend on a number of factors, including the candidate’s actual work location, relevant experience, technical skills, and other qualifications. This position may also be eligible for incentive compensation based on individual and/or company performance.

This position is eligible for company benefits that will depend on the nature of the role offered.
