Overview

At Office Depot and Office Max, every leader is responsible for growing total sales and services within the location. The General Manager has ownership and is responsible for achieving results for Sales, Services, Operations Profit, and Customer/Community relationships. They drive the overall customer experience and sales service culture within the location. The role includes managing sales performance, developing store strategies, increasing conversion rates, and driving customer traffic to maximize sales and profitability.

The General Manager will also own associate training and development, talent assessment, and succession planning. They will lead, motivate, and inspire associates to create a customer-first environment, actively engage with the local community, and host in-store events to build relationships, improve retention, and increase brand loyalty.

Responsibilities also include hiring, merchandising, operations, standard execution, resolving associate and customer concerns, and partnering with relevant business units. The role involves performance management and fostering an inclusive workplace, acting as a change champion.

Qualifications And Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent required; bachelor's degree preferred in Business, Marketing, Retail Management, or related field
  • Minimum two to four years of management experience or equivalent demonstrated skills
  • Strong business acumen and leadership skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to plan, prioritize, and execute instructions efficiently
  • Adaptable to change and able to work under stress
  • Proficient in computer systems and POS technology
