Job summary

Guest Services, Inc. is seeking a Retail Sales Associate to assist customers with purchases, merchandise displays, and friendly service across our locations. The role includes handling cash, processing payments, and maintaining neat sales areas and signage.

You will answer questions, describe products, and help customers find items while upholding company policies and safety standards. Previous cash-handling experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Partial High School education; High School Diploma/G.E.D. preferred.
• Mathematics skills.
• Interest and knowledge in Washington, DC's landmarks, monuments and memorials preferred.
• Excellent sanitation habits.
• Professional appearance.
• Ability to communicate and attend to guests with the highest standard of service.
• Ability to pass cash handling training.
• Problem sensitivity and the ability to recognize issues and report to management.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers and answer questions about products and policies.
• Describe merchandise and explain use, operation, and care.
• Recommend, select, and help locate or obtain merchandise based on customer needs.
• Compute sales prices, total purchases and process cash or credit payments.
• Issue receipts, refunds, or change due to customers accurately.
• Maintain cash register and contents.
• Maintain clean and orderly cash station area and stock shelves.
• Maintain neatness and cleanliness of the retail operation.
• Turn in cash drawer and sales reconciliation at shift end.
• Assist with special events.
• Report safety issues to management.
