Retail Events Coordinator-Birthday Parties/Events

Position Overview

Store - KC-STATELINE, MO

Plan, coordinate, and facilitate events (including kids' birthday parties) within a Michaels store to provide a stress-free, fun, and engaging experience for guests. Deliver friendly customer service by helping customers shop at our store and find what they’re looking for. Ensure all customers receive a fast and friendly checkout experience. Complete operational tasks including truck unload, merchandise duties, and maintaining store recovery standards to deliver our Brand Promises.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and coordinate multiple events simultaneously, including children’s birthday parties and craft classes or events.
  • Engage with clients of all ages, creating an environment of fun and creativity.
  • Demonstrate and instruct craft projects, perform face painting, and conduct other activities.
  • Facilitate and implement party add-ons such as goody bags and balloons.
  • Communicate event details with clients and store team members.
  • Complete administrative tasks such as answering emails, making calls, and paperwork.
  • Adjust plans based on client feedback and needs.
  • Create backup or emergency plans as needed.
  • Ensure client satisfaction for scheduled events.
  • Maintain store cleanliness and safety standards, including setup and cleanup.
Customer Experience
  • Assist customers with shopping, locating products, and providing solutions.
  • Provide a fast and friendly checkout experience.
  • Engage customers in Rewards program and Credit Card enrollments.
  • Educate customers about Voice of Customer surveys.
  • Support Omni channel processes like BOPIS and SFS.
  • Participate in truck unload, stocking, planogram, and recovery activities.
  • Support safety and shrink programs.
  • Adhere to SOPs and company policies.
  • Interact positively and respectfully with others; promote company values.
  • Cross-train in Custom Framing sales and production.
  • Participate in store cleanliness activities.

  • Energetic, enthusiastic personality.
  • Ability to handle stress and interact effectively with guests and team members.
  • Excellent people skills.
  • Experience working with children and organizing children’s events.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Retail and customer service experience required.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
  • Ability to stand for long periods.
  • Ability to move throughout the store, including bending, lifting, and reaching.
  • Ability to lift heavy boxes and use ladders.
  • Work may involve outdoor activities and work during nights, weekends, and early mornings.
