Job summary

University of North Texas Dining Services is seeking dependable hourly Dining Associates to support daily operations across UNT Retail Dining locations in Denton. You will assist with front-of-house and back-of-house tasks to ensure a smooth, friendly guest experience.

Ideal candidates are reliable and enjoy fast-paced environments. Previous food service or customer service experience is preferred but not required; training will be provided. Flexible hours with a 0.48 FTE schedule are available.

Responsibilities

Position Overview

University of North Texas Dining Services is seeking dependable and customer-focused Hourly Dining Associates to support daily operations across UNT Retail Dining locations. Our retail dining venues include a variety of quick‑service restaurants, cafés, and branded concepts that serve students, faculty, staff, and campus visitors. In this role, you will assist with a variety of front‑of‑house and back‑of‑house responsibilities to ensure efficient daily operations and an exceptional guest experience. Duties may include preparing food and beverages, assembling customer orders, operating a cash register and point‑of‑sale system, stocking food and supplies, maintaining clean and organized work areas, following food safety and sanitation standards, and providing friendly, professional customer service. Additional responsibilities may be assigned based on operational needs.

The ideal candidate is dependable, enjoys working in a fast‑paced environment, and is committed to delivering excellent customer service. Strong communication skills, the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, and a positive attitude are essential. Previous experience in food service, retail dining, hospitality, or customer service is preferred but not required.

Job Duties

• Prepare and serve food and beverages by following standardized recipes, portion guidelines, and quality standards to ensure an exceptional customer experience.
• Provide excellent customer service by greeting guests, accurately taking and fulfilling orders, operating the point‑of‑sale (POS) system, and maintaining a friendly and professional demeanor.
• Maintain food safety and sanitation standards by properly operating food service equipment, handling food safely, cleaning workstations, and following all health, safety, and security procedures.
• Support daily retail dining operations by stocking food, beverages, and supplies, washing dishes and utensils as needed, and maintaining clean and organized dining and kitchen areas.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support the efficient operation of UNT Retail Dining locations and contribute to a positive dining experience for the campus community.
