Meijer, a family-owned retailer based in Grand Rapids, invites you to join the Retail Design Intern program. You will help develop interior spaces for Meijer stores, focusing on finishes, architecture, graphics, and fixtures while collaborating with business owners for feedback.

The 11-week internship offers challenging projects, final presentations to senior leadership, and opportunities to grow skills in 2D/3D design, software like SketchUp and Revit, and AI-assisted design, with exposure

Qualifications

• Progress toward a Bachelor's degree in Interior Design, Architectural Design, Graphic Design, or Industrial Design
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Developing skills in 2D design using the Adobe Creative Suite
• Developing skills in 3D design using SketchUp, 3ds Max, Rhino, Revit
• Developing skills in AI and how to use it in design
• Understanding design trends and applying them to real-world scenarios
• Attention to detail to ensure accurate specifications
• Strong communication skills (visual, verbal, and written)
• Customer-focused and able to create engaging environments
• Organized and able to present information clearly

Responsibilities

• Develop interior spaces for Meijer stores focusing on finishes, interior architecture, graphics, and fixture design
• Present design concepts to Meijer business owners for alignment and obtain approval
• Deliver final presentation of recommended design and outcomes
• Exposure to related activities: Interior Design, Layout Design, Procurement, Construction, Merchandising, Marketing, Real Estate
