Job summary

The Walt Disney Company is seeking a Retail Creative Intern for a 6-month, full-time, in-person internship in Glendale, CA. January 11 through June 4, 2027.

You will support branded retail design expressions across franchises and develop tool kits, style guides, and spatial planning for global retail spaces. Responsibilities include contributing to design development, assisting with branding, signage and visual merchandising, and learning about materials, IP storytelling, and new technologies

Qualifications

  • Technical proficiency in 3D modeling + rendering (Rhino & Enscape) and Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop).
  • Proficiency in graphic design; understanding of visual identity and composition within built environments.
  • Hands-on ability to convey design ideas quickly to team members.
  • Knowledge of visual merchandising standard processes and presentation.

Responsibilities

  • Support the creative design and development across branded retail experiences spanning Disney franchises.
  • Contribute to design development on retail toolkits/style guides across brands.
  • Assist with crafting architectural features, branding, signage, fixtures and visual merchandising.
  • Learn about fashion, market trends, IP guardrails, and storytelling in retail.
  • Research new materials and fabrication processes and technologies for retail experiences.
  • Build POV boards with design benchmarking, materials and sketches to convey concepts.

Retail Creative Intern, Spring 2027

The Retail Creative Intern will be supporting our team who are crafting and producing branded retail design expressions across all franchises. As an Intern, you will focus on creating retail tool kits, style guide development and spatial planning for retail spaces spanning the globe!

This is a 6-month, full time, in-person internship in Glendale, CA from January 11th to June 4th, 2027.

What You Will Do:
  • Support the creative design and development across all branded retail design experiences spanning the entire portfolio of The Walt Disney Company Franchises - Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Lucasfilm, Fox & National Geographic
  • Contribute to design development on retail toolkits/style guides across the portfolio of brands
  • Assist team with crafting architectural features, branding, signage, fixtures and visual merchandising
  • Learn about fashion, market trends & understanding of IP guardrails and storytelling
  • Researching new materials and fabrication processes, learning about new technologies involved in advancing consumer experiences in retail
  • Building strong POV boards for projects; this may include design benchmarking, materials & sketching to convey specific story telling or concepts
Required Qualifications & Skills:
  • Technical proficiency in 3D modeling + rendering skills (Rhino & Enscape) and Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop)
  • Proficiency in graphic design; understanding of visual identity and clear understanding of composition, color and graphic design within the built environment
  • Hands-on ability to convey design ideas and concepts quickly to team members
  • Knowledge of visual merchandising standard processes and presentation
  • Strong communication skills, diplomacy, and collaborative spirit
  • Stand-out team-player with flexibility in design approaches & processes
  • Ability and eagerness to learn and adapt quickly and work in a constantly evolving environment
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in interior design, retail design, or construction
  • Proficiency in Animation and VR software (Adobe After Effects & Blender)
  • An understanding of IP and use of characters and storytelling within a built environment
Eligibility Requirements & Program Information:
  • Candidates for this opportunity MUST meet all of the below requirements:
  • Be currently enrolled in an accredited college/university pursuing a degree taking at least one class at time of application OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Internship.
  • Current Disney Interns, College, International, or Culinary Program Participants: You may only work for ONE consecutive year (12 months) in any combination of an internship and/or program.
  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Possess unrestricted US work authorization
Required Materials:

The pay rate for this role in Glendale, CA is $23.00 per hour.
