Job summary

Jacksons Food Stores in Sparks, NV is seeking a Retail Cashier / Customer Service Associate. You will greet customers, process transactions at the register, and help stock and maintain a clean store.

Starting pay is $16.25–$17.25 per hour with tuition reimbursement, full benefits, and advancement opportunities in a friendly team environment. Must be 21+ for regulated sales; flexible availability for 24/7 operations, including nights and weekends.

Qualifications

• Customer service experience or aptitude is preferred.
• Must be 21+ for alcohol/tobacco sales.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers with a warm smile and friendly attitude.
• Deliver fast, accurate checkout experiences.
• Promote current sales and upsell where appropriate.
• Process transactions including alcohol and tobacco sales in compliance with age requirements.
• Keep store clean and organized, including fuel islands and displays.
• Assist in foodservice and coffee areas and restock as needed.
• Follow all food safety, sanitation, and labeling procedures.
• Support team members and take on additional duties as assigned.

Shift:

Must be 21 years old to work in this role.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Greet every customer with a warm smile and friendly attitude.
• Deliver a fast, accurate, and professional checkout experience.
• Promote current sales, specials, and suggestively sell to enhance customer experience.
• Process transactions accurately and responsibly, including alcohol and tobacco sales (must meet legal age requirements).
• Maintain cleanliness inside and outside the store, including fuel islands.
• Stock shelves, coolers, and displays with fresh and organized products.
• Assist in maintaining foodservice and coffee areas, including cleaning and restocking.
• Follow all food safety, sanitation, and labeling procedures.
• Support team members and complete additional duties as assigned.

Skills/Qualifications:

• Must be 21+ to meet legal age requirements for regulated product sales.
• Our stores require flexible availability for a 24/7 operation (including nights, weekends, and holidays)
• Previous retail, cashier, or customer service experience a plus, but not required.
• Strong communication skills and a friendly, helpful attitude.
• A commitment to delivering outstanding customer experiences.
• Ability to work as part of a team and take initiative independently.
• Quick thinking, adaptable, and dependable.

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to stand for an extended period.
• While performing the duties of this job, frequently required to stand, walk, bend, and twist; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, or crouch; and talk and listen.
• Must frequently lift and/or move up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 65 pounds.
• Work safely in work conditions that include heat, cold, allergen, noise, and fume/chemical/odor from gasoline and cleaning chemicals.
