Job summary

MERS/Missouri Goodwill Industries is hiring a Retail Cashier for our St Charles store. This part-time, hourly position offers a starting wage of $15.50 per hour with bonuses up to $250 per month. You will greet customers, operate the cash register, stock and keep the area clean, and assist with returns and exchanges.

No degree is required; HS Diploma/GED preferred. Strong communication, organization, and math skills are essential to be successful in a diverse team environment at MERS/Goodwill.

Qualifications

• Necessary math skills include addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.

Responsibilities

• Greet and acknowledge customers as they enter the store, assist on the sales floor, and answer the phone with a professional greeting.
• Operate the store cash register: cash handling, credit card transactions, returns with appropriate discounts, and cash register balancing.
• Stock, straighten, rotate, and maintain cleanliness of the store area efficiently and to standard.
• Request assistance from managers for returns, exchanges, and customer complaints.
• Maintain store cleanliness by sweeping, dusting, mopping, and ensuring surfaces shine.
• Build positive relationships with team members and leadership, working cross-functionally to improve communication.
• Follow safe work practices and help maintain a hazard-free workplace by removing obstructions.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities

• Make customers a priority by greeting and acknowledging them as they enter the store, helping on the sales floor, and answering the phone within three rings with a professional greeting.


• Operates the store cash register: cash handling credit card transactions, appropriate discount returns, and cash register balancing.


• Stocks straighten, rotate, and maintain the cleanliness of the entire store area efficiently and to standard.


• Request assistance from managers for returns, exchanges, and customer complaints.


• Upholds store cleanliness standards by sweeping, dusting, mopping, and shining surfaces.


• Establishes and maintains positive and professional relationships with team members and leadership and works cross-functionally with other teams to increase communication.


• Utilizes safe work practices through awareness and observation.


• Contributes to ensuring the workplace is hazard-free by removing obstructions and keeping aisles and designated walkways debris-free.


• Maintain a professional appearance always, adhering to MERS/Goodwill's dress code.


• Safeguards agency assets, including cash, donated items, and purchased items, from harm, damage, or theft. Reports any incidents of theft or unauthorized possession of agency assets.


• Must adhere to all MERS/Goodwill policies, Goodwill Retail procedures, and safety and security regulations.


• All other duties as assigned.


• Monthly Bonus up to $250.00
