Job summary

DICK’S Sporting Goods is seeking a Bike Technician to deliver expert bicycle service and a differentiated customer experience in our Bike Department. You will build and repair bikes according to established procedures and help customers select the right gear for their riding needs.

You will uphold product presentation standards, promote warranty programs and loyalty initiatives, and work with the store team to meet sales goals while ensuring safety and proper handling of equipment.

Qualifications

  • Prior experience building, repairing, and selling bicycles preferred.
  • Ability to stand, bend, stoop, reach, push, pull and lift 15 to 35 lbs occasionally.
  • Ability to stand or walk for extended periods (up to 4 hours).

Responsibilities

  • Provide passionate customer service and bike-related selling in the Bike Department.
  • Maintain bike display standards and merchandise presentation.
  • Build and repair bikes following established procedures; assist with equipment assembly.
  • Promote warranty sales, loyalty Scorecard, and seasonal promotions.
  • Uphold safety, loss prevention and store SOPs; maintain confidentiality.
  • Collaborate with store team to support peak operations.
  • Take on additional tasks as assigned by management.

Overview

The Bike Technician is a technically focused role centered around providing a differentiated customer experience specifically to cyclists. The Bike Tech is responsible for building and repairing bicycles according to established procedures. This individual will pull from personal experiences and industry research and trends to provide strong product recommendations that align to the customer’s needs.

  • Create a world-class customer experience by providing passionate customer service and selling through customer engagement, specifically (but not limited to) our Bike Department.
  • Uphold company standards for merchandise presentation.
  • Demonstrate ability to genuinely interact with customers to show passion, knowledge,
  • dedication, and commitment in their sport or activity.
  • Promote company programs including warranty sales, Scorecard (loyalty program), private-label credit cards, and other seasonal promotions.
  • Achieve sales goals through selling bikes and related merchandise.
  • Build and repair bikes in accordance with established procedures. Assist with the assembly of exercise equipment as needed.
  • Maintains merchandise presentation standards and signage of Bike Department to Company standards as directed.
  • Adheres to established policies and procedures related to safety, loss prevention and standard operating procedures. Maintains confidentiality of all Company information.
  • Takes an all-hands-on-deck approach to support the team across the store.
  • Performs other tasks as assigned by management.

Qualifications
  • Prior experience of building, repairing, and selling bicycles preferred
  • Ability to stand, bend, stoop, reach, push, pull and lift 15 to 35 lbs. items occasionally (up to 5 times per hour).
  • Ability to work extended periods of time (up to 4 hours) standing or walking.
