Job summary

DICK'S Sporting Goods in Cary is seeking a Bike Technician to deliver a differentiated cyclist-focused experience. You will build and repair bicycles following established procedures and offer product recommendations based on customer needs.

You will help keep Bike Department merchandise presented to company standards, promote warranties and loyalty programs, and contribute to sales goals through guided customer interactions.

Qualifications

• Prior experience building, repairing, and selling bicycles preferred.
• Ability to stand for long periods and lift 15–35 lbs.
• Willingness to engage customers and promote loyalty programs.

Responsibilities

• Create a world-class customer experience by providing passionate customer service and selling through customer engagement, specifically (but not limited to) our Bike Department.
• Uphold company standards for merchandise presentation.
• Demonstrate ability to genuinely interact with customers to show passion, knowledge, dedication, and commitment in their sport or activity.
• Promote company programs including warranty sales, Scorecard (loyalty program), private‑label credit cards, and other seasonal promotions.
• Achieve sales goals through selling bikes and related merchandise.
• Build and repair bikes in accordance with established procedures. Assist with the assembly of exercise equipment as needed.
• Maintain merchandise presentation standards and signage of Bike Department to Company standards as directed.
• Adhere to established policies and procedures related to safety, loss prevention and standard operating procedures. Maintain confidentiality of all Company information.
• Takes an all‑hands‑on‑deck approach to support the team across the store.
• Perform other tasks as assigned by management.

The Bike Technician is a technically focused role centered around providing a differentiated customer experience specifically to cyclists. The BikeTech is responsible for building and repairing bicycles according to established procedures. This individual will pull from personal experiences and industry research and trends to provide strong product recommendations that align to the customer's needs.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Prior experience of building, repairing, and selling bicycles preferred.
• Ability to stand, bend, stoop, reach, push, pull and lift 15 to 35 lbs. items occasionally (up to 5 times per hour).
• Ability to work extended periods of time (up to 4 hours) standing or walking.
