Job summary

MorningStar Mission Ministries Inc is seeking a Part-time Retail Associate in New Lenox, IL to support the Clothing Department. You will sort, price, tag, and display donated items and cashier customers while providing friendly service.

The role requires year-round availability, basic computer skills, and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Up to 28 hours weekly, Monday–Friday, daytime shifts.

Responsibilities

• Sort, inspect, price, tag, and display donated clothing and accessories.
• Keep the clothing department clean, organized, and stocked.
• Provide friendly customer service to donors and shoppers while cashiering.
• Collect money during purchases.
• answer phones, prep donations for sale.
• Maintain workstation and assist with stocking.
• Assist with training co-workers.
• Work with the mission staff as a team.
• Represent MorningStar Mission's philosophy in all duties.
• Fill in any position as required.
• Hours up to 28 per week, Monday-Friday 5–6 hours daily (9:00 am - 2:00/3:00 pm).

The RETAIL ASSOCIATE/Clothing Department performs a combination of material handling (clothing) and cashiering duties.

Essential Functions:

1. Sort, inspect, price, tag, and properly display donated clothing and accessories according to store standards; maintain an attractive, organized, and well-stocked department.
2. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the clothing department, rotate and replenish merchandise, remove damaged or unsellable items, and follow safety, loss-prevention, and store procedures.
3. Provide friendly, efficient customer service to donors and/or customers while cashiering and performing other functions within the retail environment.
4. Collect money as customers purchase merchandise.
5. Answer phones, sort, clear, price and prep donations for sale on sales floor at expected rate of production.
6. Maintain a clean workstation, perform basic housekeeping duties and assist with stocking the sales floor.
7. Assist with training co-workers
8. Work with the entire mission staff as a team member.
9. Incorporate the philosophy of MorningStar Mission in every aspect of the store, customer service, employee moral, and program training.
10. Fill in any position as required.
11. Up to 28 hours per week; Monday-Friday 5 or 6 hours per day (9:00 am - 2:00/3:00 pm)
12. Related duties as assigned.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

1. Ability to be available year-round in a part time role.
2. Retail or cashier experience a plus.
3. Basic computer skills with knowledge of internet and email.
4. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
5. Ability to comply with personal and business requirements and expectations as detailed in the Employee Handbook. .

Hours: Part-time role (and must be available year-round) Pay: $15.00 per hour
