Retail Associate - The Portland Aquarium

Location: Portland Aquarium – Downtown Portland, OR

The Portland Aquarium, created by Mike Bennett Studios, is not your average gift shop. We’re part immersive experience, part retail space—and all about education through art, storytelling, and joy creation. We’re seeking a friendly, reliable, and creative Retail Associate to join our team and help bring this story to life.

The Portland Aquarium will be opening the first week of June. Employees must be available for training starting the last week of May and start full-time employment the first week of June.

What You’ll Do:

  • Deliver exceptional customer service in a welcoming, whimsical environment
  • Share product knowledge and the story behind our work with guests of all ages
  • Operate POS systems and handle sales transactions accurately
  • Maintain a clean, visually engaging retail space
  • Assist with inventory, restocking, and merchandising
  • Support event setup and in-store activations
  • Help uphold the vibe—playful, curious, and community-driven

What We’re Looking For:

  • Previous retail, customer service, or hospitality experience preferred
  • Strong communication skills and positive energy
  • Comfortable working with families and children
  • Ability to work weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed
  • Enthusiasm for public art, storytelling, and education is a plus!
