Job summary

Goodwill of Central and Coastal Virginia is seeking a Retail Associate Customer Service (Finance) to enhance the shopper experience through friendly service, storefront upkeep, and accurate transactions.

The role involves stocking, maintaining visual merchandising, and meeting store goals while working evenings and weekends; a background check will be completed as part of hiring. This position requires a high school diploma or GED and no prior experience is necessary.

• The associate is not required to drive as part of their job duties.
• The associate will be required to successfully pass a criminal background check.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates an enthusiastic, positive attitude at all times. Acts courteously and with interest in each customer encounter.
• Greets every customer swiftly upon entering the building; makes eye contact and smiles; thanks each customer at the end of the transaction and when they leave the store.
• Engages with customers, roams the sales floor, and provides assistance as needed.
• Processes customer transactions quickly and accurately within cash handling guidelines.
• Participates in putting fresh product out on the sales floor.
• Participates in rotating stock.
• Understands and meets the store's Round Up goal as assigned by the store manager.
• Maintains the sales floor in a clean, neat and orderly fashion.
• Keeps wrap desks free of clutter.
• Maintains all floor visual presentations (e.g., houseware end caps, end-of-rack visuals, low-stock visuals).
• If cleanliness issues cannot be addressed, escalates to management.

Retail Associate Customer Service (Finance)

Position Summary

Contributes to the mission of Goodwill by providing the best customer service to our customers. Maximizes the store's appearance by cleaning and straightening, filling in the sales floor, and assisting with visual presentation.

Essential Duties

(Other duties within the scope of this position may be assigned.)

1. Demonstrates an enthusiastic, positive attitude at all times. Acts courteously and with interest in each customer encounter.

2. Greets every customer swiftly upon entering the building. Makes eye contact and smiles. Thanks each customer at the end of the transaction and when they leave the store.

3. Engages with customers, takes the opportunity to roam the sales floor to engage with customers and provides assistance if needed.

4. Processes customer transactions quickly and accurately within the cash handling guidelines.

5. Participates in putting fresh product out on the sales floor.

6. Participates in rotating stock.

7. Understands the store's Round Up goal and meets the individual goal assigned by the store manager.

8. Maintains the sales floor in a clean, neat and orderly fashion.

9. Maintains wrap desks free of clutter.

10. Responsible for maintaining all floor visual presentations i.e. houseware end caps, visuals on the end of the H-rack, visuals with low stock.

11. If unable to address store cleanliness issues, brings the situation to the attention of management.

Supervisory Responsibilities

The associate in this position does not have any supervisory responsibilities.

Physical Demands/Work Environment/Work Conditions

• The associate is required to lift up to 50 pounds with frequent lifting and/or carrying objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
• The associate works in a moderate work environment with occasional exposure to extreme atmospheric conditions (temperature, noise, fumes, dust, etc.).
• The associate must be available to work evenings and/or weekends as business needs dictate.
