Job summary

Goodwill Industries of South Florida is hiring for a front-line retail associate to support daily operations in a busy store. You will greet donors, process donations, assist customers, ring up sales, stock and tidy merchandise, and help with cleaning tasks to maintain a welcoming appearance.

You should have a high school diploma or equivalent, and prior cashiering or customer service experience is a plus. Bilingual English/Spanish is a bonus but not required.

Job description

Summary:

Customer service, sales, cashiering, stocking, sorting, inventory management, sizing, color coordination, and cleaning activities in a retail store.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Receive donations: greet donors, accept and unload donated materials, enter customer general information into a smart device (such as a phone or tablet), and thank donors for their donated items.
• Processing: sort, separate, and hang clothing and household items. Sort, test, clean, and mark small appliances, housewares, shoes, seasonal items, and other assorted merchandise.
• Cashiering: Conduct sales transactions and maintain control of cash and credit card transactions by following proper procedures for voids, discounts, refunds, checks, and credit card payments.
• Cleaning duties (including but not limited to) bathrooms, floors, shelves, windows, break room, store fixtures, fitting rooms, dock area, store exterior, and merchandise counters. Report issues that require maintenance repairs.
• Customer service activities (including but not limited to) customer assistance, pricing merchandise, fitting room, offering recycling bags, explaining store operations, and other sales techniques that may enhance the store’s sales and community image.
• Able to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience:

• High school or equivalent, or a combination of education and experience.
