Job summary

Goodwill Industries of South Florida is seeking a retail associate to support customer service, sales, cashiering, stocking, and inventory tasks in our store. You will greet donors, process donations, assist customers, and help maintain clean, organized merchandise areas.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or equivalent, friendly communication, and the ability to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends.

Qualifications

• High school or equivalent required; or combination of education and experience.
• 6 months related experience or training is desirable.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Prior cashiering experience is a plus and knowledge of electronic devices.

Responsibilities

• Receive donations: greet donors, accept unload donated materials, and log donor information.
• Process: sort, hang clothing and items, test and mark small appliances and housewares.
• Cashiering: conduct sales and manage cash/credit transactions per procedures.
• Cleaning duties: clean bathrooms, floors, shelves, windows, break room, fixtures, and more; report maintenance needs.
• Customer service: assist customers, price merchandise, assist fitting rooms, offer recycling bags, explain store operations.
• Able to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends.

Summary:

Customer service, sales, cashiering, stocking, sorting, inventory management, sizing, color coordination, and cleaning activities in a retail store.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Receive donations: greet donors, accept and unload donated materials, enter customer general information into a smart device (such as a phone or tablet), and thank donors for their donated items.
• Processing: sort, separate, and hang clothing and household items. Sort, test, clean, and mark small appliances, housewares, shoes, seasonal items, and other assorted merchandise.
• Cashiering: Conduct sales transactions and maintain control of cash and credit card transactions by following proper procedures for voids, discounts, refunds, checks, and credit card payments.
• Cleaning duties (including but not limited to) bathrooms, floors, shelves, windows, break room, store fixtures, fitting rooms, dock area, store exterior, and merchandise counters. Report issues that require maintenance repairs.
• Customer service activities (including but not limited to) customer assistance, pricing merchandise, fitting room, offering recycling bags, explaining store operations, and other sales techniques that may enhance the store’s sales and community image.
• Able to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience:

• High school or equivalent, or a combination of education and experience.
• 6 months of related experience or training is highly desirable.
