Job summary

Goodwill Industries of South Florida is seeking a part-time retail associate in Fort Lauderdale to assist donors, process donations, and ring up sales. You will greet donors, sort items, and ensure accurate pricing and stocking.

The role requires outstanding customer service, reliable cash handling, and flexibility to work evenings or weekends. Previous cashiering experience is a plus; bilingual English/Spanish is helpful but not required.

Responsibilities

• Receive donations: greet donors, accept and unload donated materials, enter customer information into a smart device, and thank donors.
• Processing: sort, separate, and hang clothing and household items; sort, test, clean, and mark small appliances and other merchandise.
• Cashiering: conduct sales transactions and manage cash/credit card transactions following proper procedures.
• Cleaning duties: clean bathrooms, floors, shelves, windows, break room, store fixtures and counters, report maintenance needs.
• Customer service: assist customers, price merchandise, assist with fitting rooms, offer recycling bags, explain store operations.
• Flexible schedule, including nights and weekends.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Receive donations: greet donors, accept and unload donated materials, enter customer general information into a smart device (such as a phone or tablet), and thank donors for their donated items.
• Processing: sort, separate, and hang clothing and household items. Sort, test, clean, and mark small appliances, housewares, shoes, seasonal items, and other assorted merchandise.
• Cashiering: Conduct sales transactions and maintain control of cash and credit card transactions by following proper procedures for voids, discounts, refunds, checks, and credit card payments.
• Cleaning duties (including but not limited to) bathrooms, floors, shelves, windows, break room, store fixtures, fitting rooms, dock area, store exterior, and merchandise counters. Report issues that require maintenance repairs.
• Customer service activities (including but not limited to) customer assistance, pricing merchandise, fitting room, offering recycling bags, explaining store operations, and other sales techniques that may enhance the store’s sales and community image.
• Able to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends.
