General Purpose
The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring our Customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate makes eye contact, smiles, and greets all Customers in a courteous and friendly manner, treats fellow Associates with respect, efficiently follows all company standards, maintains a clean work area, and ensures proper merchandise presentation. The role involves performing a range of functions across the store as needed, with additional tasks assigned to support customer service and operational goals.
Essential Functions
- Understand that safety is the number one priority and practice safe behaviors in all activities.
- Maintain high awareness on the sales floor to create a safe shopping environment, keep egress clear, and report unsafe conditions.
- Treat all Customers and Associates with respect and courtesy; be friendly and professional at all times. Recognize fellow Associates using company recognition programs.
- Assist Customers as needed—be register-trained, help with merchandise, answer questions politely and knowledgeably. Greet Customers with eye contact, smiles, and greetings throughout the store, and thank them at checkout.
- Respond promptly to Customer service calls and issues, escalating to Store Leadership when necessary.
- Support and represent the Company brand consistently.
- Perform cleaning tasks to maintain a tidy environment, including sweeping, mopping, dusting, wiping, and disinfecting high-touch areas.
- Maintain a professional appearance and adhere to dress code.
- Ensure merchandise is neat, organized, and well-presented, including expediting received merchandise to the sales floor with urgency.
- Understand loss prevention policies and standards, including merchandise protection and theft prevention programs.
- Demonstrate integrity and safeguard confidential information, cash, and merchandise.
- Follow policies regarding stock management, cash handling, and transactions with accuracy and efficiency.
- Demonstrate a sense of urgency to maximize productivity and minimize steps in workflow.

Qualifications And Special Skills Required
- Effective communication with Customers, Associates, and Store Leadership in a friendly, respectful, and cooperative manner.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations used in retail environments.
Physical Requirements/Ada
- Ability to use all Store equipment, including PDTs, registers, and PCs.
- Ability to spend up to 100% of working time standing, walking, and moving around the Store.
- Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb, reach, and stoop regularly.
- Ability to occasionally push, pull, and lift more than 25 pounds.
- Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders, and other supplies.
- Specific assignments may require additional qualifications and skills.
- For Stockroom shifts: ability to regularly push, pull, and lift over 20 pounds.
