General Purpose:

The Retail Associate ensures customers have a positive shopping experience by greeting all customers courteously, maintaining a clean and organized store, and ensuring proper merchandise presentation. The role involves engaging in various tasks across the store as needed, including additional duties to meet customer service and operational goals.

Essential Functions:

• Prioritize safety, practicing safe behaviors at all times.
• Create a safe shopping environment, keep exits clear, and report unsafe conditions.
• Treat all customers and associates with respect and courtesy; recognize fellow associates.
• Assist customers with merchandise, answer questions politely, and greet customers throughout the store.
• Respond promptly to customer needs and escalate issues when necessary.
• Represent and support the Ross brand consistently.
• Perform cleaning tasks to maintain cleanliness and hygiene.
• Maintain a professional appearance and adhere to dress code.
• Ensure the store is neat, organized, and well-merchandised daily.
• Quickly merchandise new receipts and maintain product knowledge to assist customers.
• Understand loss prevention policies and merchandise protection standards.
• Demonstrate integrity and safeguard confidential information and merchandise.
• Follow policies on stock management, cash handling, and transactions with accuracy and urgency.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Effective communication with customers, associates, and leadership in a friendly manner.
• Basic math skills used in retail.

Physical Requirements / ADA:

• Ability to use store equipment and spend up to 100% of time standing, walking, and moving.
• Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop regularly.
• Occasionally push, pull, and lift over 25 pounds.
• For stockroom roles, ability to lift over 20 pounds regularly.
