General Purpose

The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring our Customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate makes eye contact, smiles, and greets all Customers in a courteous and friendly manner, treats fellow Associates with respect, efficiently follows all company best practice standards as outlined in all work centers, maintains a clean work area at all times, and ensures proper merchandise presentation. The Retail Associate is expected to be engaged in these tasks as assigned during all working hours and will perform a range of functions in all areas of the Store as needed. Additional tasks may be assigned to help achieve our Customer service and operational goals.

Essential Functions

  • Understand that safety is the number one priority and practice safe behaviors at all times.
  • Maintain awareness on the sales floor to create a safe shopping environment. Keep exits clear and report unsafe conditions.
  • Treat all Customers and Associates with respect and courtesy; be friendly and professional. Recognize fellow Associates using Company recognition programs.
  • Assist Customers as needed - be register-trained, help with merchandise, answer questions politely and knowledgeably. Greet Customers with eye contact, smiling, and saying "hello" and "thank you" during transactions.
  • Respond promptly to Customer inquiries and issues, calling Store Leadership when necessary.
  • Represent and support the Company brand at all times.
  • Perform cleaning tasks to maintain a clean environment, including sweeping, mopping, dusting, wiping surfaces, replenishing supplies, and disinfecting high-touch areas.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and adhere to the dress code.
  • Ensure the store is neat, organized, and well-merchandised through daily recovery and merchandising practices.
  • Expedite receipt of new merchandise to the sales floor, following presentation guidelines and maintaining product knowledge.
  • Understand Loss Prevention policies and standards, including merchandise protection.
  • Demonstrate integrity and honesty in all interactions, safeguarding confidential information and merchandise.
  • Follow all policies regarding stock disposal, cash handling, and transactions with high accuracy and efficiency.
  • Work with a sense of urgency, maximizing productivity and following store best practices.

Qualifications And Special Skills Required

  • Effective communication with Customers, Associates, and Store Leadership in a friendly, respectful manner.
  • Basic mathematical skills used in retail environments.

Physical Requirements/Ada

  • Use of store equipment, including registers and PCs.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move around the store up to 100% of the time.
  • Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb, reach, and stoop regularly.
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull over 25 pounds occasionally.
  • Use of janitorial and store equipment, including ladders and rolling racks.
  • Stockroom shifts require lifting over 20 pounds regularly.
