Job summary

Family Dollar seeks an Assistant Store Manager in Elyria, OH to support daily store operations, customer service, and team development. You will assist with merchandising, scheduling, and loss prevention while upholding company standards and safety policies.

The role requires ability to lift up to 55 lbs, strong communication, and a proactive, high-energy approach in a retail environment. This is a part-time on-site position with opportunities to grow.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is preferred; ability to read, interpret, and explain directives.
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environment is preferred.
• Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs. and meet demands of frequent walking, standing, and manual tasks.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills are required.
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment is required.
• Excellent customer service, organizational, and communication skills are required.
• Strong problem solving and decision-making skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with day-to-day store operations and activities.
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions or concerns.
• Help organize merchandise flow from delivery to stockroom to sales floor and maintain seasonal areas.
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
• Process directives including inventory controls and communications related to store activities.
• Maintain promotional displays and fixtures for storefronts.
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged items, payroll, scheduling, and cash handling/loss prevention.
• Maintain clean, well-stocked sales floor and organized stockroom to company standards.
• Protect and secure store assets, including cash.
• Adhere to policies and safety guidelines; ensure all associates follow procedures.
• Help the Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates.
• Ensure a positive, safe, and respectful environment for customers and staff.
• Maintain cleanliness of the store, bathrooms, floors, and waste management.
• Other duties as assigned.
