Job summary

Knife River - North Central is seeking a seasonal driver to safely operate end dump trucks and haul aggregate to job sites. The role offers winters off and benefits maintained year-round, with the chance to extend into December depending on work.

You will perform daily truck maintenance, log driving hours, and ensure compliance with safety regulations while supporting a positive, team-focused work environment.

Qualifications

  • General education, GED or high school diploma.
  • CDL Class B license required.
  • Must have and maintain medical card and acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate end dump truck to transport aggregate.
  • Inspect truck before and after trips and report condition.
  • Maintain driver logs per ICC regulations.

ROLE OVERVIEW:

Our season kicks off in April and runs through November, with the possibility of extending into December. As a seasonal team member, you'll enjoy winters off to travel, hunt, fish, or pursue the activities you love-while still keeping your benefits all year long.

DUTIES AND/OR RESPONSIBILITIES (summary of components that make up the job)
  1. Safely operate Class A or B end dump truck to transport aggregate to job site often driving on uneven or unfinished surface.
  2. Inspect truck for defects before and after trips and submit report indicating truck condition.
  3. Maintains driver log according to ICC regulations as required.
  4. May operate loader to load aggregate into truck box
  5. Daily maintenance of equipment such as cleaning truck inside and out, greasing, oiling, brakes, lights and any other maintenance instructed to perform.
  6. Recognize surroundings and practice traffic awareness to maintain a safe environment.
  7. Tarp load when needed.
  8. Clean spilled material/buildup off box (spill chutes, belts, side boards, etc.)
  9. Verify that gates are closed.
  10. Complete load tickets.
  11. Spread product
  12. Maintain proper information in truck cab pouch
  13. Report information accurately and completely on daily timecards, truck cab information and other needed paperwork.
  14. Maintain and support a safe and harassment free work environment.
  15. Ensure OSHA, DOT, EPA, DNR, MSHA, Federal, State, and Local safety and environmental regulation compliance and attend required training.
  16. Performs other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITITES (types and extent of knowledge, skills or abilities an incumbent must possess to complete the job responsibilities satisfactorily)
  1. Ability to communicate effectively (verbal, listening, written).
  2. Ability to read maps and navigate to new locations.
  3. Must be self-motivated, team-player with excellent interpersonal skills; ability to maintain positive customer relations and act courteous and respectful toward others.
  4. Ability to work with minimum supervision and recognize matters needing attention and initiate action on that recognition.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS (minimum educational, experience, or other relevant job requirements)
  1. General education, grammar and arithmetic, GED or high school diploma or equivalent
  2. CDL Minimum Class B
  3. Must have and maintain medical card and acceptable driving record and required endorsements.
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS (preferred requirements i.e. certifications, software use, etc.)
  1. CDL Class A
COMPENSATION:

$25.00 - $29.00 per hour depending on experience
