Restraint System Engineer, Plant Vehicle Engineering

We are seeking a Restraint System Engineer, Plant Vehicle Engineering. The ideal candidate will have experience in restraint system development, with a focus on seatbelts and airbags preferred. Candidates should demonstrate a proactive attitude, quick learning ability, and a pursuit of excellence in a fast-paced environment.

Role Responsibilities:

  1. Manage design release of airbags and seatbelts, including system specification, sourcing, packaging, drawing release, validation, integration, and manufacturing support.
  2. Collaborate with design and interior engineering teams to develop restraint systems that balance occupant protection and interior aesthetics.
  3. Oversee Tier 1 suppliers for engineering development and program timelines.
  4. Coordinate validation plans and laboratory tests for subsystem integration.
  5. Serve as the primary contact for all restraint supplier communications.
  6. Ensure restraint system designs meet five-star safety ratings.
  7. Support crash testing and vehicle homologation, ensuring correct component pedigrees for validation.

Qualifications:

  • Deep knowledge of airbags and/or seat belt system design and engineering, with experience in OEM or Tier 1 suppliers.
  • Understanding of automotive crashworthiness standards.
  • Awareness of latest passive safety technologies.
  • Proficiency in CAD for component packaging and minor modifications.
  • Strong problem-solving fundamentals in engineering.

Preferred Skills:

  • Program management experience.
  • Testing experience (crash, deployment, seats, trims).
  • Knowledge of CAE analysis and restraint system optimization.
  • Ability to communicate technical issues effectively to non-specialists.
  • Excellent supplier management and technical development skills.
  • High ethical standards.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or related fields.
