Restorative Nursing Assistant Primary Job Function
The primary purpose of this position is to carry out restorative nursing functions. The restorative care plans are developed according to the needs of each individual resident to ensure that the resident can increase or maintain their highest possible functioning level while in our care.
Restorative Nursing Assistant Primary Responsibilities
- Performing and providing written/verbal care assignments, routine skills, and procedures to ensure quality care to residents, including:
- Providing direct restorative care and delegated formal therapy tasks as assigned, completed accurately, safely, and timely;
- Participating in restorative care programming and facilitating programs such as range of motion, walking, etc.;
- Assisting the Restorative Nurse with bowel and bladder programs and scheduled toileting;
- Notifying the Charge Nurse/Restorative Nurse of residents' progress, regress, or refusal to participate for assessment and care plan adjustments;
- Making second attempts to provide services when residents refuse or are unavailable;
- Monitoring equipment needs and reporting to therapy or restorative nurse;
- Serving as a resource and teammate to other nursing assistants in restorative care;
- Participating in QA programs related to functions;
- Understanding and interpreting rehabilitation and restorative nursing programs for staff;
- Providing accurate medical record documentation and routine departmental functions;
- Listing residents on restorative programs to the nurse in charge;
- Following care plans and documenting services;
- Maintaining safety, infection control, and a clean environment, including proper use of protective devices and adherence to emergency protocols;
- Reporting abuse immediately;
- Following infection control procedures and cleaning schedules;
- Performing other duties as assigned by the Restorative Nurse or designee, including general CNA responsibilities.
Restorative Nursing Assistant Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED, unless under a student permit.
- Certification by the Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH) as a CNA in good standing. CNAs from other states may work temporarily while awaiting Indiana certification. CNA students not yet certified may also work temporarily.
