Job summary

Kirkwood Wellness & Rehabilitation in Kirkwood, Missouri seeks a dependable Restorative Aide (RNA) to support our nursing team and provide restorative care to residents in a skilled nursing and long-term care setting.

Under the supervision of the Director of Nursing Services, you will perform range of motion exercises, assist with ambulation and ADLs, use adaptive equipment, and document care activities to support resident goals.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a Restorative Aide training class or possess a Restorative Aide Certificate.
• Experience in a skilled nursing facility, nursing home or long-term care setting.
• Demonstrated employment stability.
• Ability to follow directions, accept supervision, and work with the nursing team.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
• Good health and ability to perform duties with or without accommodation.

Responsibilities

• Range of Motion exercises per physician orders and plans.
• Assist with ambulation, transfers, positioning and bed mobility.
• Support with ADLs, dressing, grooming, self-feeding and feeding programs.
• Assist with adaptive equipment, hand rolls, and splints.
• Provide whirlpool and other restorative interventions as directed.
• Monitor residents and report changes to the Charge Nurse and PT.
• Document daily restorative activities and weekly progress notes.
• Participate in Care Plan conferences and collaborate with the care team.
• Follow physician orders, safety procedures, and facility policies.
• Attend in-service trainings and perform related duties as assigned.

Job description

Are you passionate about helping residents maintain their independence, mobility, and quality of life? Kirkwood Wellness & Rehabilitation is seeking a dependable, compassionate Restorative Aide (Restorative Nursing Assistant/RNA) to support our nursing team and provide restorative nursing care to residents in a skilled nursing and long-term care setting.

Working under the supervision of the Director of Nursing Services and nursing leadership, the Restorative Aide helps residents maintain and improve their functional abilities through physician-directed restorative nursing programs, mobility assistance, range of motion exercises, and activities of daily living.

Responsibilities – Restorative Nursing Care

• Range of Motion Exercises: Perform passive and active range of motion exercises according to physician orders and established restorative nursing plans.

• Ambulation and Mobility: Assist residents with ambulation, transfers, positioning, bed mobility, and other prescribed restorative nursing activities. Ambulation duties do not include gait training.

• Activities of Daily Living (ADLs): Support residents with dressing, grooming, self-feeding, and prescribed feeding programs to promote independence.

• Adaptive Equipment: Assist residents with the appropriate use of adaptive devices, hand rolls, and splints as directed.

• Therapeutic Support: Provide prescribed whirlpool treatments and other assigned restorative interventions in accordance with established procedures.

• Resident Monitoring: Observe residents during restorative activities, identify changes in condition or care needs, and promptly report concerns to the Charge Nurse, Director of Nursing Services, and Physical Therapist as appropriate.

• Documentation: Accurately document daily restorative nursing activities, interventions performed, and resident responses on the RNA documentation sheet. Complete weekly progress notes using appropriate nursing terminology.

• Care Planning: Participate in resident Plan of Care conferences and collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team to support resident goals.

• Compliance and Safety: Follow physician orders, facility policies, and established resident care and safety procedures.

• Team Collaboration: Attend required in-service training sessions and meetings and perform other related duties as assigned by nursing leadership.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a Restorative Aide training class or possess a Restorative Aide Certificate.

• Previous experience in a skilled nursing facility, nursing home, or long-term care setting.

• Demonstrated employment stability.

• Ability to follow directions, accept supervision, and work effectively with the nursing team.

• Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.

• Good general health and the ability to perform the essential duties of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.
