Job summary

Hiawatha Care Center is seeking a dedicated Restorative Aide to support resident mobility and independence. You will implement restorative nursing care under Nursing and Rehab guidance and collaborate with the Rehabilitation Services team to meet individual goals.

As a Restorative Aide, you will promote consistency, patience, and hands-on engagement, ensuring residents receive high-quality care and appropriate exercises daily.

Qualifications

• Current state CNA certification is required.
• Restorative Aide certificate preferred.
• Experience in restorative care is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Implement and participate in restorative programs for residents.
• Assist with exercises, mobility, ROM and positioning as ordered.
• Support transition from rehab to restorative modalities.
• Communicate goals and progress with nursing and rehab teams.
• Maintain restorative documentation and progress notes.
• Supervise and train caregivers in restorative techniques.

Job description

Hiawatha Care Center is actively hiring a Restorative Aide to support resident mobility, functional independence, and overall well-being. The Restorative Aide coordinates, implements, and provides restorative nursing care for residents under the direction of the Nursing Department and in collaboration with Rehabilitation Services.

As a Restorative Aide, you will have the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in residents' daily lives by helping them maintain mobility, independence, and quality of life. Consistency, encouragement, patience, and hands-on engagement are essential to success in this role.

Schedule and Employment Type

Full-Time Days (7AM - 3:30PM) | Monday-Friday including Every Other Weekend

Key Responsibilities

• Implement and participate in restorative programs as a Restorative Aide for individual residents
• Assist residents with exercises, mobility programs, range-of-motion activities, and positioning as ordered
• Facilitate the transition of residents from skilled rehabilitation services to restorative and preventative programs
• Communicate regularly with the Director of Nursing, Rehabilitation Nurse, and interdisciplinary team regarding resident goals and progress
• Attend rehabilitation rounds and communicate restorative needs to appropriate staff
• Maintain accurate restorative nursing documentation and progress records
• Visit residents daily or as needed to ensure programs are appropriate and effective
• Train and support primary caregivers in restorative techniques and proper care delivery
• Monitor residents with range-of-motion and T&P orders to ensure compliance
• Instruct and assist staff with splints, braces, prosthetics, and self-help devices
• Identify restorative needs for new admissions and communicate findings to appropriate personnel
• Communicate with families regarding resident progress during care conferences or as needed
• Remain proficient in the use of wheelchairs, walkers, canes, lifts, scales, and restorative equipment
• Put resident care first and ensure the highest quality of service

Qualifications

• Current state certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) required
• Restorative Aide Certificate Preferred
• Restorative care experience preferred
• Ability to motivate, encourage, and support residents
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Ability to work effectively with residents, families, and interdisciplinary team members

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday
• Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional demands of the position
• Must be able to function independently and demonstrate flexibility and personal integrity
• Must be able to work effectively with residents, families, and staff
• Must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of 25 pounds to a height of at least 5 feet and carry such weight a minimum distance of 50 feet
• Must be able to assist with the evacuation of residents during emergency situations
