Job summary

SERVPRO® Team Nichols is seeking a hands-on restoration assistant in Tinley Park, IL. You will support emergency cleanups, restore water and fire damage, and work on site to help clients by delivering practical restoration tasks with the team.

The role requires physical capability, reliability, and a willingness to learn new skills in a fast-paced environment. This is a full-time, on-site position with opportunities for training and professional development.

Qualifications

• Previous handyman/restoration experience preferred.
• Able to lift 50+ pounds and work outdoors.
• Willingness to learn and adapt on job sites.

Responsibilities

• Respond promptly to emergency water and fire restoration needs.
• Assist with water extraction, drying, and debris removal.
• Load and organize tools and supplies on job sites.
• Communicate safety hazards and progress to supervisors.
• Maintain positive communication with clients.
• Follow safety procedures and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Respond promptly to emergency situations, including water damage, fire damage.
• Evaluate and perform restoration activities including but not limited to, water extraction, fire damages, set-up of specialty equipment, and demolition.
• Load, inventory, and maintain work vehicles with tools, equipment, and all necessary supplies for each project.
• Effectively communicate safety hazards, job site findings, equipment, and tool requirements for the worksite with supervisors.
• Maintain open and clear communication with clients, addressing their concerns and explaining the restoration process.
• Perform restoration and cleanup tasks, including water extraction, drying and site clean-up

Position Requirements

• Valid driver’s license
• Willingness to work occasional on-call shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Previous experience in restoration, construction, or a related field is preferred.
• IICRC certification is a plus.

Skills/Physical Demands/Competencies

• Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds regularly, occasionally up to 100 pounds with assistance.
• Ability to climb ladders, work at ceiling heights, work in tight spaces (e.g., crawl spaces, attics)
• Ability to repetitively push/pull/lift/carry objects.
• Ability to work with/around cleaning agents.
