Job summary

SERVPRO of Calvert County/St. Mary’s County is seeking a hands-on restoration helper to respond to emergencies and perform cleanup and restoration tasks. You will assist with water extraction, drying, equipment setup, and debris removal while loading vehicles with necessary tools for each job.

Ideal candidates have handyman experience, enjoy working outdoors, and are motivated to learn a new skill. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds regularly and work with cleaning agents.

Qualifications

• Handyman or construction experience preferred.
• Ability to work in a team and learn new skills.
• Willingness to work on-call evenings/weekends/holidays.

Responsibilities

• Respond to emergency situations including water and fire damage.
• Perform restoration tasks such as water extraction, drying, and debris cleanup.
• Load and inventory trucks with tools and supplies for each project.
• Communicate safety hazards and job-site findings to supervisors.
• Maintain clear communication with clients about the restoration process.
• Conduct restoration and cleanup tasks at sites.

Key Responsibilities

• Respond promptly to emergency situations, including water damage, fire damage.
• Evaluate and perform restoration activities including but not limited to, water extraction, fire damages, set-up of specialty equipment, and demolition.
• Load, inventory, and maintain work vehicles with tools, equipment, and all necessary supplies for each project.
• Effectively communicate safety hazards, job site findings, equipment, and tool requirements for the worksite with supervisors.
• Maintain open and clear communication with clients, addressing their concerns and explaining the restoration process.
• Perform restoration and cleanup tasks, including water extraction, drying and site clean-up

Position Requirements

• Valid driver’s license
• Willingness to work occasional on-call shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Previous experience in restoration, construction, or a related field is preferred.
• IICRC certification is a plus.

Skills/Physical Demands/Competencies

• Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds regularly, occasionally up to 100 pounds with assistance.
• Ability to climb ladders, work at ceiling heights, work in tight spaces (e.g., crawl spaces, attics)
• Ability to repetitively push/pull/lift/carry objects.
• Ability to work with/around cleaning agents.
