Provide food and beverage service to club members and guests.
Position
Part Time Restaurant/Banquet Server
Job Tasks
- Set up side station and perform assigned side (prep) work.
- Provide immediate attention to all members and guests upon seating.
- Distribute food and wine menus; answer questions.
- If local water conservation laws permit, fill glasses with ice water; answer questions and suggest menu items.
- Take members’ and guests’ orders; suggestively sell food and beverage items, if appropriate.
- Place orders with kitchen; inform cooks about any special cooking instructions.
- Serve meals; place dishes by courses in front of each person.
- Check back to ensure member and guest satisfaction; replenish water and butter as necessary.
- Remove soiled dishes.
- Present dessert menus, suggest and serve dessert, coffee and after-dinner drinks.
- Verify accuracy of prices, taxes, tips, and other charges on all checks.
- Present the bill.
- Handle all cash and credit card charges as prescribed by standard operating procedures.
- Keep tables, dining room, and bus station areas clean.
- Advise supervisor of any complaints as soon as they occur.
- Perform clean-up and closing duties as assigned by manager.
- Attend pre-meal meetings as requested by the dining room captain.
- Turn in signed tip declaration form weekly.
- Thank members and guests; invite them to return.
- Follow local and state laws and the club’s policies and procedures for serving alcoholic beverages.
- Perform other duties assigned by dining room or outlet manager.
Qualifications
- Ability to effectively learn to use a Point of Sale System.
- Ability to suggestively sell items and answer questions.
- Maintain cleanliness of dining areas.
- Verify prices and accuracy of checks and process payments.
- Apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed instructions.
- Print and speak simple phrases and sentences.
- Present information effectively in one-on-one and small group situations.
- Read and interpret documents such as safety rules and procedure manuals.
Certifications and Licenses
- Indiana State Liquor Permit
- Indiana State Alcohol Awareness Certificate
Work Experience
- Prior fine dining experience preferred.
Competencies
- Answer questions and explain dishes or food items.
- Proficient in wine service.
- Maintain a pleasant demeanor during high volume times.
Work Environment
Overtime and Other Aspects
- Schedule flexibility may be necessary.
- Overtime may be required as needed.
