If a station in the dining room is a symphony, the server is its conductor. Servers are responsible for leading and maintaining communication within the service team and being the primary presence at the table. They must delegate and prioritize quickly, taking control and ownership of each guest’s experience. Responsibilities
- Greet guests within 1 minute of seating.
- Lead guests through the dining experience.
- Provide professional food and beverage service, answer questions, suggestively sell, and create an upbeat atmosphere.
- Be knowledgeable of the menu, brands, prices, and current promotions.
- Take and input orders accurately in the POS system, communicating allergies or dietary restrictions.
- Deliver food and beverages timely, replenish drinks, and ensure guest satisfaction.
- Serve alcohol and non-alcoholic beverages in compliance with regulations.
- Clear plates appropriately, assist with table crumbing, and keep stations stocked.
- Present checks, handle transactions, and give sincere thank-yous.
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of tables and bar areas.
- Respond to guest issues graciously and report to management.
- Conduct oneself professionally, maintaining a positive attitude.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned or revised by management.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Clear communication and quick thinking in high-pressure situations.
- Ability to move gracefully and quickly through the dining room.
- Basic math, excellent reading, writing, and verbal skills.
- Menu knowledge, including ingredients and cooking techniques.
- Confidence in food and beverage pairing and wine service.
- Proficiency with POS and computer operations.
- Understanding of sanitation standards.
- Effective communication with guests and team members.
- Excellent attendance and punctuality.
Experience
- Previous bartending, serving, or customer service experience preferred.
Physical Demands
- Stand and exert fast-paced mobility for 4+ hours with high energy.
- Lifting 15-30 pounds and moving swiftly between dining and kitchen areas.
