Host with a view of beautiful Geneva Lake

JOB SUMMARY:

As an Abbey Resort associate, you will have the opportunity to be part of an incredible team at an all-service resort situated on the beautiful shores of Geneva Lake. We aim to hire individuals who are ready and committed to exceeding guest expectations by genuinely creating lasting memories, maintaining a positive attitude, and providing outstanding service every time.

BASIC FUNCTION:

The Host/ess will greet guests entering the restaurant and seat them in a timely manner.

QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING, & WORK EXPERIENCE

High school diploma/equivalent preferred or currently enrolled in High School and able to work.

• Greet and interact with guests in a friendly and professional manner.
• Seat all guests in a timely and courteous fashion. Clear extra settings if not needed. Present menu to each guest.
• Answer telephone and take reservations using professional language.
• Volunteer Resort information to guests. Must be knowledgeable about other restaurants, shops, and locations on property, as well as current/upcoming events.
• Keep work area/podium clean and organized. Menus should be wiped down at the end of each shift and replaced if wrinkled or soiled.
• Communicate with kitchen and staff to ensure a steady flow of dining guests.
• Maintain waiting list of guests. Know available tables, staff coverage, and how to seat guests alternately in each section.
• Utilize OpenTable system to control seating flow and server sections.
• Responsible for cash handling and bank procedures as outlined by the Accounting Department.

MARGINAL FUNCTIONS:

• Interact effectively with people of diverse socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds.
• Perform other tasks and duties as assigned.
• Scheduled hours may vary based on business needs and may include holidays, weekends, various shifts, overtime, or reduced hours.
• Walk around restaurant to check on guests, refill water, push in stools, wipe down high tops, while always monitoring the podium.

ENVIRONMENT:

Indoor fast-paced environment with vinyl and carpeted surfaces; outdoor areas with cement surfaces and exposure to outdoor climates and elements; loud noise levels.
