Job description

Responsibilities

The Restaurant Leader Trainee ensures that store conditions comply with company policies, procedures, and legal requirements. This includes maintaining cleanliness, food service standards, customer service, merchandising, loss prevention, safety, and security to maximize profitability, control expenses, manage inventory, and reduce shortages.

This leader fosters a coaching environment where team members are motivated to excel and recognized for their achievements by:

  • Providing prompt, courteous customer service by understanding customer needs and supporting management.
  • Managing food services in accordance with health and safety standards.
  • Growing sales of the food service program through sales management, promotion, merchandising, and communication with vendors and team members.
  • Planning and preparing work schedules, covering shifts as needed due to emergencies or staffing shortages.
  • Assisting with food consumption calculations and inventory requests.
  • Analyzing financial data to identify opportunities, develop action plans, and increase sales.
  • Controlling food costs through portion control and proper accounting, along with managing all controllable expenses.
  • Monitoring food service results and trends to improve sales and maintain top-selling item stock levels.
  • Overseeing food preparation to ensure quality and sanitation standards.
  • Conducting safety inspections of equipment and maintaining a safe environment.
  • Responding to accidents or property damage reports and following up accordingly.
  • Ensuring displays are neat and appealing, and signage is properly displayed.
  • Monitoring compliance with merchandise agreements and correcting discrepancies.
  • Maintaining vendor relationships, overseeing delivery accuracy, and reporting issues.
  • Recruting, hiring, training, and coaching team members to develop a high-performing team.
  • Teaching team members to handle difficult situations and fostering a team environment.
  • Evaluating performance and applying disciplinary actions when necessary.
  • Maintaining personal appearance according to company policies.
  • Performing additional duties as needed and ensuring attendance compliance.

Qualifications

Education/Experience: High School diploma or GED preferred; two-year degree or higher is strongly preferred. At least one year of retail, fast food, or sales management experience required. Food Handlers and Food Safety Certifications as required. Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Knowledge and Skills: Demonstrated leadership, customer service skills, and success in team development. Ability to use financial reports for decision-making. Strong communication skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office, and experience with PDI/Verifone/Topaz preferred.

Physical Demands: Regular standing and walking; occasional climbing, kneeling, crouching; lifting up to 50 pounds; pushing/pulling up to 128 pounds. Reasonable accommodations available for disabilities. All listed responsibilities are considered essential functions.
