Restaurant Maintenance Technician

The Restaurant Maintenance Technician is responsible for the ongoing repair and maintenance of all Wendy’s and Which Wich restaurants, ensuring that each location operates safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company standards.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Perform overall repair and maintenance of all Wendy’s and Which Wich restaurants.
• Execute cosmetic repairs such as tile work, painting, and other finishes.
• Conduct preventive maintenance on kitchen cooking equipment, refrigeration, and HVAC systems.
• Respond to on‑demand service requests for cooking equipment, refrigeration, and HVAC systems.
• Maintain expertise in electrical and plumbing systems relevant to restaurant operations.
• Oversee external service providers when dispatched.
• Record maintenance and repair work via the internal maintenance ticketing system.
• Support and facilitate organizational changes, continuous improvement, and internal communication.

Required Skills & Abilities

• Type I/Type II or Universal Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Certification for refrigerant handling.
• HVAC Certification with experience in commercial HVAC/Refrigeration maintenance.
• Valid state‑issued driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Excellent communication skills with restaurant managers, district managers, and the Director of Operations.
• Strong critical‑thinking and creative problem‑solving abilities with business acumen and curiosity.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Conflict resolution skills and the ability to make clear decisions.
• Strong organizational and time‑management skills with keen attention to detail.
• Rapid decision‑making and creative problem‑solving skills, with sound judgment and personal accountability.

• Experience with Microsoft Office suite; intermediate to advanced MS Excel knowledge preferred.
• Ability to travel to and from various sites outside of local daily schedule.

Education & Experience

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in HVAC repairs and preventive maintenance.
• Experience in refrigeration repairs and preventive maintenance.
• Experience in plumbing repairs (plus).
• Experience in cosmetic repairs (plus).

Physical & Cognitive Requirements

Ability to stand, walk, sit, talk/hear, push/pull, climb, bend/stoop, crouch/kneel/crawl, taste/smell, balance, twist/reach, carry, grasp with hands, squat, and drive. Lift up to 50 lbs daily and 50–100 lbs on occasion. Sound hearing to perceive alarms, communication equipment, verbal instructions, and machinery. Basic reading, writing, and math skills; basic or complex speech skills; able to speak, read, write, and understand English, perform clerical tasks, memorize, analyze, work under stress, and make independent decisions. General vision, close vision (<20 inches), distance vision (>20 feet), color vision, and peripheral vision. Noise levels below 85 dB. Regular repetitive use of feet and hands. Operate in wet/humid/steam conditions, slippery floors, hot grease, mechanical parts, machinery, asbestos, outdoor weather, extreme heat/cold, confined areas, pressurized equipment, electrical equipment, vibration, flying debris, flashing/strobing lighting, and vehicles in motion.
