Job description

We are searching for a Host/Hostess to join our team at The Hotel Salem in Salem, MA. Our Host/Hostess team is the first and last people a guest interacts with; they are the people who represent the restaurant. As a Host/Hostess, you will be part of a collaborative and passionate group that strives for an excellent guest experience. Responsibilities:

• Warmly welcome our guests by opening the door, smiling, and making eye contact as they enter the restaurant
• Utilize technology to make reservations, operate a wait, and assist guests, all while maintaining a personal touch with the guests
• Seat guests at their own pace, handing the appropriate menu(s) to each guest after they’re seated
• Communicate with servers and managers regarding the availability of tables, the seating of large parties, or special requests, so that guests receive seamless service
• Handle guests’ complaints by listening to their concerns, always informing a manager, and resolving issues, PLUS ONE to ensure overall guest satisfaction
• Work as a collaborative team to coordinate service between the first-floor restaurant, The Counter, and our rooftop restaurant, The Roof
• Help other departments as needed by running food, bussing tables, and performing a variety of other tasks with the goal of great guest service

Qualifications:

• Basic computer skills

Compensation:

$17 hourly

The Hotel Salem is a vibrant and one-of-a-kind accommodation on the North Shore of Boston. This 44-room boutique Salem hotel is in the middle of the action on the bustling Essex Street pedestrian mall in the city center. It is home to two restaurants including Salem's only seasonal rooftop bar as well as multiple event spaces.
