The Line Cook is responsible for accurately and efficiently cooking meats, fish, vegetables, soups, and other hot food products, as well as preparing and portioning food prior to cooking. Additional duties include food and final plate preparation, plating, garnishing, and preparing garnishes for hot menu items. Candidates should have at least two years of kitchen and preparation experience, and must communicate clearly with managers and staff. Physical requirements include reaching, bending, lifting up to 40 lbs., and standing for long periods (up to 9 hours).

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Preparing a variety of meats, seafood, poultry, vegetables, and other food items using various kitchen equipment.
  • Assuming full responsibility for the quality of served products.
  • Adhering to standard portion sizes, cooking methods, quality standards, and kitchen policies.
  • Maintaining sufficient food levels at line stations for smooth service.
  • Portioning food according to recipes and standards.
  • Keeping work stations clean and sanitary.
  • Preparing items for cooking by portioning, battering, breading, seasoning, and marinating.
  • Following proper plate presentation and garnishing procedures.
  • Properly handling, storing, and rotating products.
  • Assisting in food prep during off-peak times.
  • Closing the kitchen properly and assisting with closing procedures.
