Job summary

Shangri-La Resort on Monkey Island, northeast Oklahoma, is seeking a seasonal Bartender to join our team. You will greet guests, provide knowledgeable beverage service, and ensure compliance with Oklahoma liquor laws and Shangri-La policies.

Under supervision of the Restaurant Supervisor/Manager, you will work in a fast-paced, team-based environment, maintaining bar operations, restocking supplies, and delivering world-class service with a positive attitude.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • 6 months bartending experience.
  • ABLE License.
  • Ability to communicate in English.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Professional status through interface with customers.
  • Professional working relationship with management and co-workers.
  • Flexible schedules.
  • Willing to "pitch-in" and help co-workers.
  • Able to withstand prolonged standing/walking.
  • Able to lift at least 30 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Recognizes levels of intoxication and prevents over-service.
  • Informs customers about bar specials and practices suggestive selling.
  • Restock bar supplies and garnishes.
  • Inform manager when supplies are needed.
  • Provide full bar service including beer and cocktails.
  • Maintain bar/lounge cleanliness and equipment.
  • Clean bar tables and check chairs for spills.
  • Maintain and clean alcohol and soda control devices.
  • Record sales by ringing exact amounts into register.
  • Greet customers courteously with world-class service.
  • Record shortages and overages for management review.
  • Set up bar area and seating before opening.
  • Maintain security of bar supplies and inventory; record daily operations.
  • Change taps on empty kegs and report issues.
  • Check opening inventory for shortages or changes.
  • Work as a team with co-workers.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Under the direct supervision of the Restaurant Supervisor or Manager, the Bartender maintains efficient and courteous beverage operations by greeting guests, anticipating guests' needs, providing knowledgeable beverage service, and providing consistent professional guest relations with a positive, upbeat personality. Bartenders must work efficiently in a team-based environment and must consistently follow Oklahoma Liquor Laws, Shangri-La alcohol training, and Shangri-La internal controls.

Restaurant Supervisor/Manager

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Recognizes levels of intoxication and prevents customers from being overly intoxicated.
  • Informs customers about current bar specials and practices suggestive selling of beverages and food.
  • Restock bar supplies, such as dry goods, all glassware, all juices, sodas, and garnishes.
  • Informs manager or supervisor when supplies are needed.
  • Full bar service including beer and crafted cocktails.
  • Helps maintain cleanliness of bar and lounge areas and equipment, TV, signs, tables, chairs, etc.
  • Cleans all bar tables and wipes clean and checks chairs for spills.
  • Maintain and clean all alcohol and soda control devices.
  • Records all sales by ringing exact amounts into register.
  • Greet customers in a courteous manner, with world-class service in mind.
  • Review any shortages and overages and record it for management's review.
  • Setup bar area and seating area prior to opening.
  • Maintain security of all bar supplies and inventory and maintain record of daily operations as required.
  • Change tap on empty kegs and report any problems or leaks to manager or supervisor.
  • Check opening inventory and note any shortages or changes.
  • Work as a team with co-workers and treat all co-workers with respect.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Must have 6 months of bartending experience.
  • Must have ABLE License.
  • Must have the ability to communicate in English. Self-starting personality with an even disposition.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Must be able to maintain a professional status through interface with customers.
  • Must be able to maintain a professional working relationship with management and co-workers.
  • Must be able to work flexible schedules.
  • Must be willing to "pitch-in" and help co- workers with their job duties and be a team player.
  • Must be able to withstand prolonged periods of standing and/or walking.
  • Must have the ability to lift at least 30 lbs.
