Houston Marriott Westchase Hotel is looking for a Full-time AM Restaurant Greeter/Cashier.

Position Summary: The Restaurant Greeter/Cashier position involves managing reservations, timely seating guests following established procedures , and ensuring efficient flow within the dining area with a sense of urgency during busy service periods , all while being proactive, looking for opportunities to assist guests with their needs or inquiries, ensuring a pleasant dining experience and providing excellent customer service.

Scheduling: This is a Full-Time position that will include various days of the week, including weekdays, weekends and holidays, working 6:30 AM – 2:30 PM. Schedules may change weekly based on business demands.

Specifically, in your role as the Restaurant Greeter and Cashier your primary responsibilities are the following, but not limited to,:

  • Warmly greet guests with a smile upon arrival and provide them with menus.
  • Manage the seating chart and assign tables based on reservations and guest flow to maximize efficiency.
  • Take and manage reservations for the restaurant and the private dining room, ensuring accurate records and accommodating special requests when possible.
  • Memorize table numbers and seat numbers of the dining room.
  • Effectively communicate with servers and kitchen staff regarding guest seating and special requests.
  • Answer guest inquiries regarding menu items, restaurant policies, and waiting times, providing accurate information.
  • Ensure that guest checks are handled accurately, efficiently and in compliance with established policies and standards; strictly comply with company procedures in unit cash handling.
  • Ensure the host area and dining room are clean, stocked and organized, including managing waiting areas and clearing tables.
  • Utilize the restaurant Micros Point of Sale (P.O.S.) system and procedures to process checks and all other transactions.
  • Provide support by preparing tables and assisting servers as needed.
  • Perform daily opening and closing duties and required side-work for role.
  • Maintain expected high standards for uniform and personal appearance.

This list is not all inclusive, additional job functions will be shared during interviews.

Supportive Functions : The hotel functions seven (7) days a week and twenty-four (24) hours per day. Due to the seasonal nature and business hours of a hotel, candidates must realize it may be necessary to move an employee from their accustomed shift to meet business demands. All associates are expected to perform any other duties as requested by management to support other departments and/or operational requirements.

Qualifications
  • Excellent communication skills, with ability to effectively understand and communicate in the English language, both verbally and written, with guest and restaurant staff.
  • Thorough understanding of customer service behaviors and interpersonal skills; able to effectively interact with internal and external customers with high levels of patience, tact and diplomacy in a fast-paced environment with professionalism.
  • Basic Computer, mathematical skills and calculator skills are required.
  • Able to easily adapt to unexpected changes and prioritize tasks effectively during busy periods.
  • Moves through-out restaurant and kitchen areas, including frequent and repeated climbing up and down stairs, for duration of shift.
  • Capable of remaining in a standing position, either stationary or walking, for duration of shift.
  • Capable of frequent and repeated bending, stooping, leaning over and extending arms fully, carrying and/or lifting to 25 lbs.
  • Hearing and visual ability to observe and detect signs of emergency situations.
  • Able to work in a busy restaurant environment, including exposure to various noise levels and large crowds.

Professional Licenses/Certifications:

  • Food Handler Certification and TABC Certification are required.

Experience

  • Previous hospitality and/or restaurant experience preferred.
