Job Description Summary
The EHS Lead Specialist reports hierarchically to the Portfolio EHS Leader and provides day-to-day EHS support for sites within the Spain Sites area. This scope includes all WTG generators, warehouses, service activities, contractors’ management, and GEV staff. The role involves managing EHS at the site, providing operational support, advising on safer solutions, and monitoring EHS KPIs such as concerns, ATS, I&I, ensuring proper follow-up and closure.
Job Description
Essential Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with Laws, Regulations, and Procedures.
- Support and promote a Zero Harm Culture.
- Provide factual and effective communication.
- Influence stakeholders.
- Maintain focus on Strategic and Business Vision.
- Interpret laws, regulations, and procedures, considering local/national standards.
- Ensure customer EHS requirements are met for site access.
- Develop and update site procedures per management systems and local regulations.
- Review and test Emergency Plans regularly and train personnel.
- Train staff on laws, regulations, procedures, and risk mitigation.
- Support Site Manager in EHS program implementation.
- Conduct quarterly emergency drills focused on specific events.
- Verify safety standards for products, equipment, and tools, including contractor mobilizations.
- Support EHS assessments during major operations.
- Perform scheduled audits and inspections, ensuring compliance and documentation.
- Manage site inspections by regulatory agencies.
- Maintain EHS documentation and oversee PPE management.
- Support contractor mobilization and ensure compliance with requirements.
- Ensure proper use of GEV compliance tools like Gensuite, Comply Works, SGS.
- Review and ensure accuracy of reporting systems.
- Represent GEV in local EHS working groups and regional wind community.
Required Qualifications:
- Technical background in electricity, mechanical, or related fields.
- Master's degree in EH or equivalent (e.g., Técnico Superior PRL).
- Physical fitness to climb wind turbines.
- Knowledge of local and regional EHS regulations and authority interactions.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and web tools.
- Expert-level knowledge in EHS risk assessment, audits, compliance, incident management, and system development.
- Awareness of security and crisis management principles.
- Strong soft skills in influence, communication, resilience, change management, and problem-solving.
- Fluent in English and Spanish (written and spoken).
- Significant wind operations and/or EHS experience, preferably in wind energy.
Desired Qualifications:
- Familiarity with HSE regulatory requirements.
- Knowledge of ISO 45001, 14001, and GWO certifications.
- Experience as a Wind Turbine Technician is advantageous.
