Job summary

The Arc of Palm Beach County is hiring a Respite Direct Service Professional to provide compassionate care and engagement to individuals with developmental disabilities in homes, centers, and the community.

You’ll support daily living tasks, design meaningful activities, and promote independence while building strong relationships with families and staff across programs in Palm Beach County, Florida.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• Some college coursework preferred.
• At least 1 year of direct care or support experience.
• Valid Florida Driver's License.
• Reliable transportation and current auto insurance.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Provide care, support, encouragement, and engagement to individuals with developmental disabilities.
• Assist with daily living activities and personal care.
• Create fun, meaningful activities based on individual needs and interests.
• Encourage independence, social interaction, and skill development.
• Maintain accurate documentation and communicate with the Respite team.
• Support families and help provide peace of mind.

What You'll Do

As a Respite Direct Service Professional (DSP), you'll provide care, support, encouragement, and engagement to individuals with developmental disabilities in their homes, in our centers, and throughout the community.

• Supporting participants with daily living activities such as feeding, dressing, toileting, and personal care
• Creating fun, meaningful, and engaging activities based on individual needs and interests
• Encouraging independence, social interaction, and skill development
• Assisting with recreational outings, community activities, and field trips
• Ensuring a safe, positive, and supportive environmentBuilding strong relationships with participants and their families
• Maintaining accurate documentation and communication with the Respite team
• Helping individuals enjoy fulfilling experiences while giving families valuable support and peace of mind
