Job summary

United Cerebral Palsy of the Inland Empire is seeking a part-time Respite Worker to provide temporary in-home care for clients with developmental disabilities in the Palm Desert/Idyllwild area. You will assist with daily living activities, follow family care plans, and ensure safety during visits.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or GED, at least 2 years of relevant experience, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or GED.
• Experience: At least 2 years with individuals with developmental disabilities.
• Skills: Good communication (written and verbal), basic computer proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Provide supportive care to clients so families can rest and maintain balance.
• Work a minimum of two hours per respite appointment.
• Follow care instructions from parents/guardians.
• Assist with daily living activities (feeding, dressing, toileting, grooming, light meals).
• Maintain safety and supervision, never leaving clients unattended.
• Submit accurate timecards and notes in UCPIE systems.
• Keep CPR and First Aid certifications current.
• Respond to team calls within 24 hours.
• Participate in ongoing training.
• Adhere to UCPIE policies and Injury and Illness Plan.
• Do not transport clients or siblings.
