Job summary

KidsTLC is seeking a Part-Time Respite Care Facilitator in Kansas (Olathe) for 20–25 hours/week, with shifts Fri, Sat, and Sun. Flexible hours between 7am–10pm.

The role focuses on coordinating and providing care for youth aged 6–16, following established plans and creating educational activities to support development. You will work with leaders, therapists, and staff to ensure quality, confidential care, and adherence to the program philosophy.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• College credit hours in social work, psychology, or related field preferred.
• Must be at least 21 years old with a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate daily care and activities for respite clients (ages 6–16).
• Follow treatment plans and maintain confidentiality.
• Complete trainings including First Aid, CPR, ESPI, and HIPAA requirements.
• Monitor safety and ensure proper documentation and records.

Job description

Part-Time position working 20 to 25 hours per week

Days needed: Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

Flexible hours- work shifts between 7am to 10pm.

PURPOSE OF POSITION

The Respite Care Facilitator is responsible for the coordination and care of the respite clients to ensure the daily physical and emotional needs of the youth (ages 6-16) are fulfilled. This includes following established plans and activities and creating activities to ensure effective education and developmental opportunities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.

• Coordinate the effective daily care and activities of clients receiving respite care including transportation, as directed.
• Work with agency leaders, therapists, and others to ensure a working knowledge of the treatment plan or needs of each client attending respite, maintaining confidentiality.
• Learn, implement, and utilize teaching models (P.A.C.E.) and the agency philosophy (KidsTLC Constitution) to integrate and create a positive learning environment.
• Respond to crisis and conflict promptly with confidence, care and professionalism and report to leaders, as required.
• Maintain and follow documentation and recordkeeping of clients and ensure quality standards and HIPAA obligations are met.
• Accomplish and practice all required trainings including First Aid, CPR, P.A.C.E, ESPI and other state required trainings and standards.
• Maintain sight and sound of residence in accordance with state regulations.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

• High school diploma or equivalent
• College credit hours in social work, psychology, or a related mental health field from an accredited college, preferred.
• Must be at least 21 years of age with a valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.

• Running for brief periods of time.
• Some physical requirements in working with children include the ability to physically hold youth utilizing Emergency Safety Physical Intervention (ESPI).
• The employee must be able to safely get down on knees and remain in position for up to 10 minutes, have extreme flexibility to hold youth and switch positions while holding and lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
• Support and safely lower 150 pounds of weight to the floor.
• Ability to have sight and sound to effectively supervise clients.

LANGUAGE ABILITY

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability towrite routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

COGNITIVE DEMANDS

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

COMPUTER SKILLS

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have industry relevant software, other web-based software programs, and Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, and Excel.

ENVIRONMENTAL ADAPTABILITY

Residential facility environment with typical noise level, fast paced. The hours of work in this position are normal work week hours with some variances. The incumbent to this position must be flexible with the work schedule and expect schedule changes as required by agency needs. Must be approved.
