Job summary

Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center is seeking a Respiratory Therapy Technician (PRN) to support the Respiratory Therapy team under supervision. The position requires current student status in an RRT program and BLS/CPR certification within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities include equipment checks, therapeutic procedures for ventilation and airway maintenance, patient monitoring, and adherence to infection control practices. The role offers flexible scheduling around school commitments.

Qualifications

• Current student in an RRT program.
• BLS or CPR certification within 90 days of hire.
• Willingness to work PRN around school schedule.

Responsibilities

• Assembles, checks for proper function, identifies malfunctions of equipment, and takes action to correct malfunctions of equipment.
• Conducts therapeutic procedures to achieve adequate spontaneous and artificial ventilation.
• Conducts therapeutic procedures to maintain airway to remove bronchial secretions.
• Evaluates and monitors patient’s response to respiratory care.
• Explains plan, therapy, and goals to patient. Maintains records of communication.
• Initiates, conducts, or modifies respiratory care techniques in an emergency setting.
• Performs procedures as listed in general competency checklists and interprets results.
• Protects patient from nosocomial infection by adhering to infection control policies and procedures.
• Reviews data in inpatient record and performs procedures based on all available patient information.
• Selects and obtains equipment and assures cleanliness of equipment appropriate to the respiratory care plan.
