Job summary

North Memorial Health in Robbinsdale, MN seeks a Respiratory Therapist with leadership experience to provide staffing and clinical supervision in the Respiratory Care Department, ensuring consistent patient care and efficient operations.

You will assist the department manager with HR issues, quality improvement, scheduling, and cross-divisional projects, while leading coordinators, team leaders, and staff in daily duties and performance reviews to support high-quality critical care.

Qualifications

  • NBRC credentialed RRT or JRCRTE/COARC program required.
  • Minimum 5 years of critical care experience as a Respiratory Therapist.
  • Experience in management, supervision, or coordinating roles preferred.
  • Strong communication, organization, and judgment skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide staffing and expertise to the Respiratory Care Department to promote consistent patient care.
  • Assist the department Manager with HR-related issues including recruiting, retention, and performance improvement.
  • Supervise department coordinators, team leaders, RTs, and clerical staff in the Manager's absence.
  • Assist with quality assurance, risk management, and implementation of protocols and procedures.

About this position

Provides appropriate staffing and expertise to the patient census, which will promote consistent care for patients receiving services of the Respiratory Care Department. Assists the department Manager with HR related issues such as recruiting, retention, performance improvement and employee appraisal. Provides direct supervision to department coordinators, team leaders, staff RT's, and clerical and support personnel in the absence of the Manager. Assists the Manager with quality assurance, risk management, vision rollout, and implementation. Provides a cross-divisional resource for the clinical support of other disciplines in the Medical Center. Provides oversight and supervision of R.T. staffing utilization, focused on scheduling, time & attendance, call and coverage, human resource intervention, quality assurance, and assigned projects. Maximizes department financial performance through scheduling, tracking individual performance, and participates in the evolution of the assignment process. Performs duties which will ensure appropriate care delivery for acute and critical inpatients at North Memorial Medical Center. This may be accomplished through direct bedside assessment, direct physician and unit rounding, therapy determination, patient chart review, and outcome data review. Leads in the development and implementation of department and interdisciplinary protocols, policies, and procedures relative to respiratory therapy patients in critical care.

Requirements
Education
  • Must be NBRC credentialed as an RRT, and a graduate of an approved JRCRTE/COARC Respiratory Care Practitioner Program
Experience
  • Must be NBRC credentialed, and have 5 years critical care experience as an Respiratory Therapist.
  • Previous Management, Supervisory, or Coordinator Experience.
  • Training and experience in a medical acute and critical care environment.
  • Demonstrates an ability to communicate effectively, organize and prioritize assignments, make decisions, and exercise good judgment.
Licensure/Certification
  • Current Minnesota RT License (Employees must meet all annual requirements for renewal including mandated CEU's) or obtained within 2 months of hire - State Requirement
  • Must be currently certified with both a BCLS & ACLS - NMHC Standard
  • Must be currently certified in NRP - NMHC Standard
