Job summary

UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas seeks a Respiratory Therapist to join the Respiratory Care team. You will perform clinical respiratory care for adults, geriatrics, and neonates, including ventilatory support and airway care, with expected high competency across procedures.

The role emphasizes collaboration with clinicians, patients, and families, adherence to NBRC/AARC guidelines, and participation in staffing, education, and quality improvement efforts.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in respiratory care; Texas license; NBRC registered; BLS and NRP certifications.
• 5 years of critical care experience as an RRT.
• Bachelor's BSRT or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Adheres to NBRC requirements and AARC Clinical Practice Guidelines; manage staff to meet productivity targets.
• Directly supervise and evaluate patient care by unit staff; perform daily rounds and chart audits.
• Coaching and mentoring staff; promote professional growth and staff engagement.
• Ensure coverage during staffing shortages and maintain clinical competency.
• Coordinate self-scheduling and Kronos records; oversee inventory and equipment.
• Investigate events and document in the incident system; escalate where needed.
• Participate in performance improvement activities and hospital work groups.
