Job summary

Mercy Clinic Springfield is seeking a Respiratory Intern (Part-Time, Flexible Schedule) to gain direct patient care experience under licensed practitioners. This role provides hands-on exposure to a wide range of respiratory therapies in a hospital setting and aligns with Mercy’s mission of compassionate service.

Ideal candidates are enrolled in an accredited Respiratory Care program, maintain BLS certification, and demonstrate strong communication and teamwork skills.

Qualifications

• Active enrollment in an accredited Respiratory Care program.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with respiratory therapy treatments and procedures.
• Assess patient needs and help implement appropriate respiratory care interventions.
• Monitor and document patient responses to therapy.
• Support patient and family education efforts.
• Maintain accurate and timely electronic health record documentation.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary care teams.
• Follow infection prevention and PPE guidelines.
• Stock supplies and manage respiratory equipment.
• Clean and process respiratory therapy equipment.
• Maintain organized and professional work areas.
