St. Mary Medical Center in Hobart, IN seeks a Student Respiratory Therapist to join the Respiratory Therapy team. Under supervision, you will initiate and administer a full range of respiratory care modalities for patients, applying clinical assessments to care plans.

The position requires enrollment in an approved RT program, a current Indiana Respiratory Care Practitioner’s Student Permit, and CPR certification. This is a part-time, hospital-based opportunity with a 0.2 FTE.

Qualifications

• Current student enrolled in an approved Respiratory Therapy program.
• Must hold Indiana Respiratory Care Practitioner’s Student Permit and CPR certification.
• Willingness to work in a hospital respiratory therapy department.

Responsabilités

• Responds to Code Blue and maintains airway, assists in ventilation and cardiac compressions as trained.
• Administers aerosol, humidification, and therapeutic gases to adults as prescribed.
• Delivers prescribed respiratory treatments to adults and explains therapy to patients and families.
• Assesses patient data to determine appropriateness of care plans and suggests modifications.
• Collects clinical data to establish optimal therapeutic goals for patients.
• Maintains attendance as required by hospital standards.

Position Summary

Under general supervision and according to established policies and procedures, initiates and administers the full range of respiratory care modalities as outlined within the specifications of the Student RCP Permit. This includes applying clinical assessments and diagnostic results to the care plan of the patient.

Job Responsibilities

• Responds to all medical emergency call (Code Blue), maintaining airway, establishes ventilation and assists in performing cardiac compressions in accordance with standards for Adult, Pediatrics/Children, Newbords/Infants.
• Responsible for aerosol, humidification and therapeutic gas(es) for Adults.
• Responsible for the administration of prescribed routine respiratory treatments of all types on adults only.
• Explains planned therapy and/or diagnostics to the patient, significant other and/or family and its goals taking into account age, culture.
• Responsible for determining appropriateness of prescribed Respiratory Care Plan and recommend modifications where indicated based on patient response.
• Responsible for collecting and evaluating pertinent clinicial data (or recommend additional data) to establish
• optimal patient therapeutic goals.
• Maintains attendance as an essential requirement of the position and as designated by hospital standards.

Education/Experience

• Current student of an approved Respiratory Therapy program.
• Must provide a current Indiana Respiratory Care
• Practitioner’s Student Permit and valid CPR certification.
