Job summary

Corewell Health Lakeland is seeking a Respiratory Therapy Apprentice to support Respiratory Therapists in patient care at Lakeland Hospital St. Joseph, MI. The role involves maintaining equipment, preparing supplies, and assisting in procedures under supervision.

Qualifications

• Must be actively enrolled in a CoARC accredited Respiratory Therapy program.
• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Healthcare experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist Respiratory Therapists with procedures and tasks as directed.
• Maintain and monitor respiratory equipment; assist in assembly, transport, disinfection, calibration and troubleshooting.
• Support workflow in respiratory care areas and patient care tasks.

Scope of Work

The Respiratory Therapy Apprentice works under the direction of a licensed Respiratory Therapist. The Respiratory Therapy Apprentice is responsible for maintaining an appropriate level of equipment in the various respiratory work areas and assisting the Respiratory Therapists with various procedures and tasks, as directed. The Respiratory Therapy Apprentice may be responsible for performing multiple duties that require an expertise in the assembly, transport, disinfection, calibration and troubleshooting of respiratory related equipment.

Qualifications

• Required Must be actively enrolled in CoARC accredited RT program
• Required High School Diploma or equivalent
• Healthcare Preferred
• CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association 90 Days preferred
• If you are 18 or older, have graduated High School or possess a GED, and would be interested in becoming a Respiratory Therapist and may attend Kalamazoo Valley Community College, Ivy Tech Community College, or Muskegon Community College, please apply so that we may consider you for the RT Apprentice Program
• This is also a great career choice for someone with an Exercise Science Degree and willing to complete one and a half or two additional years of schooling to have a great Respiratory Care career
• This is also a great Program to consider for anyone with an Associate in Science, or anyone who may have completed some Science Courses during High School or Post High School
• You may also have a Part Time position at Corewell Health while attending the RT Apprentice Program, having Full Benefits, and earning a living
