Qualifications

• Advanced NBRC specialty certifications (NPS, ACCS, RPFT, SDS)
• Experience as a clinical preceptor or clinical instructor
• Knowledge of clinical education best practices and competency-based assessment
• Experience with clinical affiliation management and site development
• Strong relationships within the local healthcare community
• Must possess a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Respiratory Care or Health Sciences

Responsibilities

• Provide quality instruction and career advisement to all students
• Maintain grades and develop course objectives, outlines, syllabi, and competencies
• Ensure assessment of student learning outcomes per course
• Report grades to Registrar and submit reports timely
• Attend faculty meetings, PD events, and University committees
• Ensure compliant use of library resources and supervise advisement hours
• Perform duties designated by the Respiratory Department’s Program Director
• Oversee licensing and accrediting body compliance
• Collaborate with Librarians on program development
• Participate in self-studies and University committees
• Support Commencement ceremonies as appropriate
• Follow DCE guidelines for clinical instruction
• Comply with facility policies and coordinate with DCE if discrepancies arise
• Report student and facility issues within 24 hours
• Clinical instructors: graduate of CoARC-accredited program, RRT, NBRC credentialed
• Two years’ experience in adult critical care; ACLS required
• If neonatal training, two years in NICU with NRP certification
• Experience with PFT and Sleep Studies is a plus
• To teach didactic courses, working toward or holding a bachelor’s degree in Respiratory Care
