Position Summary

Job Title: Registered Respiratory Therapist, NICU

Dept: Respiratory Care

Status: Variable Full Time

Shift: Night, Hours 7:00pm-7:00am

Location: Orlando Health Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women and Babies

Orlando Health Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women and Babies, located on the downtown Orlando Health campus, provides specialized care covering all facets of women’s health, including gynecological services, minimally invasive surgeries, obstetrics, and high-risk pregnancies. It has nearly 14,000 births annually and features one of the largest NICUs in the nation with 142 beds. The hospital is recognized for innovative procedures like in utero surgery for spina bifida and has received multiple accolades including Magnet Recognition and top rankings in neonatology.

Responsibilities
  • Essential Functions:
  • Demonstrate competency in respiratory therapeutics, non-invasive ventilators, pulmonary diagnostics, and related equipment.
  • Maintain accurate documentation.
  • Apply analytical reasoning to blend patient care management with technical skills.
  • Communicate effectively with the healthcare team.
  • Perform quality control and maintenance of arterial blood gas analyzers and related tasks.
  • Maintain punctual attendance following hospital policies and regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with all hospital policies and procedures.
Qualifications

Education:

  • Associate of Science in Respiratory Care or Cardiopulmonary Sciences.
  • Non-specified critical care clinical experience.
  • Intermediate critical care training as per Orlando Health’s Respiratory Therapy Clinical Ladder.

Licensure/Certification:

  • Florida Registered Respiratory Therapist license.
  • RRT credential from NBRC, with renewal requirements depending on registration date.
  • Membership in AARC and FSRC, to be obtained within 90 days of employment.
  • Current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification.
  • NRP, PALS, and ACLS certifications required within 90 days, as appropriate.
